I recently joined this online gallery and will be uploading more images in the next few days. Harn has a “look” about it that is clean, contemporary and very professional. I think you will enjoy taking a look at their artists on their Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/harngallery

and on their gallery website where they’ve posted my Blue Nude as the art of the day.

My previous post mentioned that I was working on the first in a series in a new style and new medium. Here I’ve posted the finished painting and the two photographs that I used to build the composition.

Future paintings in the series will be more expressionistic, but even from the beginning this painting looked enough like my niece Katie, whose photo I used, that I kept the realism of the face and added her dog to the composition. I’m not a portrait painter so normally I use live models or photos only for general body position and facial features and expressions. Once in a while the finished image does look like the model and I think this is the case with Young Woman and Her Dog.
