my 4-week, Saturday mornings classes will begin on Jan. 15 and run through Feb. 5 at the Morean. If you plan to sign up, please call the Morean directly soon so I or they can send you a brief materials list. Their online registration has not been working well lately, so a phone call is best. 727-822-7872.

OMG! Through the stages
- When my partner Ed surprised me with these two large canvases and then rigged them on pulleys so I could raise and lower them together, I was thrilled, but challenged. I spent several months studying them before I could actually get started on something. I decided on a “discovery” abstract that would lead me to an eventual conclusion. My responsibility is to incorporate the right values, good color, balanced shapes, artistic marks and exciting compositional movement as the painting pulls me along. I’ll post progress as I go and hope you’ll enjoy sharing the journey with me.

first strokes to get a feeling of movement

blocking in some shapes and values

punching it up with whites and bold underpainting colors

refining a few shapes. End of day three.
3rd Annual Open Studio at McNulty Lofts
The guests outnumbered previous years and we had a great time. One of the main reasons for the Open Studio is to allow residents to our condo to meet each other and we had many new residents stopping in for a glass of wine and to meet people.

I had a chance to visit with many new residents from downtown's spectacular new Signature Place condo.

There were many new faces at the Open Studio, but long-time collectors as well.

The gallery goes on and on.

Our private Open Studio transforms the 8th floor hallway into Gallery 8 for one night.
